First a little about me.

My background includes working as a portrait artist, printed textile designer, seamstress, dress designer, and graphic artist. My work has sold world wide, and many of my printed textile designs adorn the beds and windows of homes across the globe.

I have been designing unique rag dolls for a number of years, and selling them to doll lovers world wide.

The idea for the Ragdoll Fairy website was inspired by my grandchild, Lily May, who arrived in May 2006. She lives in Australia with her mummy and daddy, and as I live in UK, and don’t get to see her as often as I’d like, I spoil her at every opportunity. I wanted to make her a doll that would stand out from the rest. A special doll that she would treasure as she grew older. So the first Ragdoll Fairy was created just for her.

Interest in my dolls grew, and when I realised my creations could be enjoyed by children everywhere with the help of the internet, so I set up this web site for my dolls.

When I discovered reborn babies, I fell in love. I just had to find out more. After researching the techniques needed to create them, I realised that this was something I could do – I already had the painting experience, as a portrait artist, I knew how to get the skin tones of a baby just right, and as a textile designer I often worked in fine detail. My work with rag dolls taught me about the essential ‘feel’ of a cuddlesome baby. So I knew I had all the skills needed to make these little treasures, and the Ragdoll-Fairy Nursery was born.

Now a little about my Dolls

As with real people, no two rag dolls are exactly the same, although there will always be a resemblance. Their differences will be slight – the shape or colour of the eyes; the colouring of their feet, hair and mouth. Ragdoll facial features will all be hand stitched, which gives each doll a unique face. Some are Fairy dolls with padded wings, some are bridesmaid dolls, and some are traditional, cuddlesome dolls, but all are made to be loved.

With the reborn dolls, even when using the same sculpt, each doll will turn out differently as the colouring and skin texture will vary with every doll.

Some dolls are slim with long legs, and some are short and stout. Some are pretty, some have character, but all are sweet and lovable.

These small variations make each of them unique, and a pleasure to own, knowing that no other person in the world has one exactly the same as yours.

Occasionally, someone will request more than one of the same kind of doll, or a set of dolls that are all the same, for instance, as presents for a group of bridesmaids, for twins, for a sports team prize, etc. In this case, I’ll duplicate it as many times as requested. However, as the dolls are individually created, no two dolls will be identical.

My Web Site

This web site is constantly evolving as new ideas and designs are developed.

Following requests for ethnic rag dolls, and flower girl dolls, I have decided to make all of my ragdolls to order. I also make reborn baby dolls to order. Please contact me for details of this ‘custom made’ service.

Rag doll kits and patterns were the next addition, as I realised that many people were asking if I could provide lessons or classes to make the dolls. I don’t have time to teach, but these patterns and kits are so detailed, that even if you only know the basics of sewing and knitting, you will be able to produce a very acceptable doll. The the kits are proving to be very popular.

Mohair Care Products. I know many people have a hard time with reborn mohair. After struggling with ‘terminal matting’ and ‘no hope’ frizz, with my own reborn doll’s hair, I decided to do some experimenting. Normal baby and toddler hair products are designed for human hair, which is much different in texture and behaviour to mohair, I wanted to find something that would ‘tame’ mohair, which is, after all, animal hair!

That was the begining of my voyage of discovery that led to me creating a range of mohair care products.

Reborn Supplies were the next idea to add. As I discovered new suppliers for my own needs in reborning, I realised that many artists and collectors could benefit from the special prices I get for buying these items in bulk. So I’m happy to pass these on.

My shop is still evolving - as new ideas and opportunities come along - so please keep calling back, and look out for changes.

Be sure to add me to your favorites list.

Thanks for reading, I appreciate your interest.

Best Wishes

Pearl Angela
